Tools, Tutorials and Resources

For Authors and Writers, and for Teaching Freelancers

People often ask me what tools and resources I use, so I’ve gathered the main ones on this page.

Please note: Some of the links are affiliate links which means I make a small amount of money if you click through. I use all these services myself and only recommend those I trust, so I hope they are useful and you can always google them if you don’t want to use my link. Thanks!

For writing

Scrivener
  • I use the program Scrivener to outline and write the first draft of my books. Moving chapters around are easy. You can have two screens to compare an older version while working on a newer version. Keeping tabs on and making my research notes available in the same file has been a really useful asset. Everything is to hand.

  • If, however, you are like me and need a guiding hand to quickly show you those steps to move around, write and then produce a manuscript ready to publish as an ebook, then a small investment in Gwen Hernandez (author of Scrivener for Dummies) has Scrivener courses (MAC and Windows versions) is well-worth the reasonable price she asks for.
